“Modular Home” is an investigation into minimal living modules and the urban development of Stockholm.
Due to the constant influx towards the city, the housing situation is changing and the city is confronted with a lack of habitation.
The exploration of the current urban fabric gave me the idea to reuse existing fallow land within the city centre to counteract against the shortage of housing. The developed living modules serve as a home for people in need of a habitat.
The tradition of modular living reaches back to the ’60s and ’70s when many architects and designers were concerned with the idea of modular and mobile living structures and wanted to revolutionize our way of living.
The aim of the project could be seen as an approach to solve the problem and to serve as a tool for discussion.
“Modular Home” är en undersökning av minimala bostadsmoduler och stadsplanering i Stockholm.
Den ständiga inflyttningen till staden skapar nya bostadssituationer och i staden råder bostadsbrist.
Utforskandet av den nuvarande stadsväven gav mig en idé om att återanvända obrukad mark i centrum för att bekämpa bostadsbristen. Bostadsmodulerna erbjuder ett hem för personer som behöver någonstans att bo.
Modulhemsboende har sina rötter i 1960- och 70-talet, då många arkitekter och formgivare var intresserade av idéer om modulboende och mobila bostadsstrukturer och ville revolutionera hur vi bor.
Målet med projektet kan ses som ett försök att lösa problemet och erbjuda ett diskussionsunderlag.
